TL;DR
This paper presents a detailed theoretical study of W and Z boson production with jets at the LHC, combining NLO QCD calculations with parton shower simulations and comparing results with experimental data.
Contribution
It introduces a method to accurately predict W/Z plus jets production by merging NLO QCD with parton showers and compares these predictions with LHC measurements.
Findings
Good agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental data
Validation of NLO QCD matching with parton shower models
Enhanced understanding of multi-jet production in electroweak processes
Abstract
We consider the production of a single or boson in association with jets at the LHC. We compute the corresponding cross sections by matching NLO QCD predictions with the Herwig++ and Pythia8 parton showers, and by merging all of the underlying matrix elements with up to two light partons at the Born level. We compare our results with several 7-TeV measurements by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations, and overall we find a good agreement between theory and data.
