TL;DR
This paper studies the phase transition behavior of KMS states on the Cuntz algebra O_2, showing a sharp change in the number of states at a critical temperature and classifying their types.
Contribution
It introduces a one-parameter automorphism group on O_2 and characterizes the abrupt change in the structure of KMS states at a critical point.
Findings
KMS states change from infinitely many to one at the critical temperature
No KMS states exist beyond the critical temperature
Extremal KMS states' factor types are classified
Abstract
We exhibit a one-parameter group of automorphism on the Cuntz-algebra O_2 such that the simplex of KMS states changes abruptly at a certain critical temperature from infinitely many to one, and then none. The factor types of the extremal KMS states are also determined.
