TL;DR
This paper reports measurements of $\Lambda$ hyperon production in inelastic proton-proton collisions at 158 GeV/c, providing spectra and distributions, and comparing results with existing models.
Contribution
First detailed spectra and distributions of $\Lambda$ hyperons in p+p interactions at this energy, with comparison to theoretical models.
Findings
Mean multiplicity of $\Lambda$ hyperons is approximately 0.12.
Spectra of transverse momentum and rapidity are presented.
Results are consistent with some model predictions.
Abstract
Inclusive production of -hyperons was measured with the large acceptance NA61/SHINE spectrometer at the CERN SPS in inelastic p+p interactions at beam momentum of 158~\GeVc. Spectra of transverse momentum and transverse mass as well as distributions of rapidity and x are presented. The mean multiplicity was estimated to be . The results are compared with previous measurements and predictions of the EPOS, UrQMD and FRITIOF models.
