An inconsistency in the spectrum of bosonic open 2-brane
M. Abdul Wasay, Ding-fang Zeng

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that the spectrum of a bosonic open 2-brane lacks massless states like gravitons and only includes half-integer squared mass values, indicating unique spectral properties.
Contribution
It reveals a fundamental inconsistency in the bosonic open 2-brane spectrum, challenging its potential as a model for gravity.
Findings
No massless graviton states in the spectrum
Spectrum contains only half-integer squared mass values
Highlights spectral differences from string theory
Abstract
We show that the spectrum of a bosonic open 2-brane does not contain any massless states to take the role of gravitons. Moreover, the spectrum of this open 2-brane only contains half integer mass squared values.
