S.P. Baranov, A.V. Lipatov, N.P. Zotov

TL;DR
This paper investigates prompt $ ext{chi}_c$ meson production and polarization at LHC energies using the kt-factorization approach within NRQCD, fitting non-perturbative parameters to recent experimental data.
Contribution
It provides a detailed analysis of $ ext{chi}_c$ production including both color singlet and octet contributions, and extracts non-perturbative matrix elements from LHC data.
Findings
Color singlet components dominate at small and moderate pt.
Successfully describes differential cross sections and production ratios.
Indicates different wave functions for $ ext{chi}_c1$ and $ ext{chi}_c2$.
Abstract
In the framework of kt-factorization approach, the production of prompt mesons in pp collisions at the LHC energies is studied. Our consideration is based on the off-shell amplitudes for hard partonic subprocesses and non-relativistic QCD formalism for bound states. The transverse momentum dependent (unintegrated) gluon densities in a proton were derived from Ciafaloni-Catani-Fiorani-Marchesini evolution equation or, alternatively, were chosen in accordance with Kimber-Martin-Ryskin prescription. Taking into account both color singlet and color octet contributions, we deduce the corresponding non-perturbative long-distance matrix elements from the fits to the latest ATLAS data on and transverse momentum distributions at TeV. We find that these distributions at small and moderate pt are formed mainly by the color singlet…
