Beyond mean field: On the role of pair excitations in the evolution of condensates
M. Grillakis, M. Machedon

TL;DR
This paper refines the equations governing pair excitations in condensates, deriving energy- and particle-conserving Euler-Lagrange equations to improve the understanding of condensate evolution.
Contribution
It introduces a new set of Euler-Lagrange equations for pair excitations that ensure conservation laws, advancing the theoretical framework for condensate dynamics.
Findings
Derived energy-conserving pair excitation equations
Established particle number conservation in the new equations
Enhanced the theoretical modeling of condensate evolution
Abstract
This paper (published in 2013) introduces a refinement of the equations for the pair excitation function used in our previous work with D. Margetis. The new equations are Euler-Lagrange equations, and the solutions conserve energy and the number of particles.
