Steffen Georg Weber (for the ALICE Collaboration)

TL;DR
This paper reports on ALICE measurements of J/ψ production in Pb-Pb and p-Pb collisions at LHC energies, analyzing cold nuclear matter effects and their implications for understanding quarkonium suppression.
Contribution
It provides new experimental data on J/ψ production at mid-rapidity in heavy-ion collisions and discusses cold nuclear matter effects using p-Pb data to interpret Pb-Pb results.
Findings
Cold nuclear matter effects influence J/ψ production.
Comparison of data to models helps interpret suppression.
Results contribute to understanding quark-gluon plasma.
Abstract
We present an overview of the ALICE measurements on the production of in Pb-Pb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of and p-Pb collisions at at mid-rapidity () down to zero transverse momentum. The cold nuclear matter effects estimated from the p-Pb measurements and their impact on the interpretation of Pb-Pb results are discussed, based on comparison of data to model calculations.
