TL;DR
This paper measures the nuclear interaction length of the $K_L$ meson in NaI(Tl) calorimeter within a specific momentum range, providing data to improve simulation accuracy in particle physics experiments.
Contribution
The study provides the first direct measurement of the $K_L$ nuclear interaction length in NaI(Tl), comparing it with existing simulation values.
Findings
Measured $K_L$ interaction length: 30-50 cm in 0.11-0.48 GeV/$c$ range.
Results differ from values used in GEANT4 and UNIMOD simulations.
Data helps refine particle interaction models in calorimeters.
Abstract
In the study of the reaction at the VEPP-2M collider with the SND detector the nuclear interaction length of meson in NaI(Tl) has been measured. Its value is found to be 30--50 cm in the momentum range 0.11--0.48 GeV/. The results are compared with the values used in the simulation programs GEANT4 and UNIMOD.
