TL;DR
This paper measures the production cross-sections of $J/$ mesons in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV, providing detailed data on prompt and $b$-decay sources, and compares these with lower energy results.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed differential cross-section measurements of $J/$ production at 13 TeV in the specified kinematic range, including extrapolation to total $b\bar{b}$ cross-section.
Findings
Prompt $J/\psi$ cross-section: 15.03 μb
$J/\psi$ from $b$-hadron decays: 2.25 μb
Cross-section ratios relative to 8 TeV are reported
Abstract
The production of mesons in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of TeV is studied with the \lhcb detector. Cross-section measurements are performed as a function of the transverse momentum and the rapidity of the meson in the region and , for both prompt mesons and mesons from -hadron decays. The production cross-sections integrated over the kinematic coverage are b for prompt and b for from -hadron decays, assuming zero polarization of the meson. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The cross-section reported for mesons from -hadron decays is used to extrapolate to a total cross-section. The ratios of the cross-sections…
