Jae Won Shin, Chang Ho Hyun

TL;DR
This paper introduces a new GEANT4 model using dibaryon effective field theory to accurately simulate deuteron photodisintegration, improving predictions of neutron yield and cross sections.
Contribution
The paper develops a specialized GEANT4 model employing dEFT for deuteron disintegration, providing more accurate cross section and neutron yield predictions.
Findings
G4dEFT accurately predicts total and differential cross sections.
The model reveals neutron yield peaks not seen in previous models.
Predictions align well with empirical data.
Abstract
We develop a new hadronic model for GEANT4 that is specialized for the disintegration of the deuteron by photons, . For the description of two-nucleon interactions, we employ a pionless effective field theory with dibaryon fields (dEFT). We apply the new model of GEANT4 (G4dEFT) to the calculations of the total and the differential cross sections in and compare the results with empirical data. As an application of the new model, we calculate the neutron yield from the process. G4dEFT predicts peaks for the neutron yield, but the existing model of GEANT4 does not show such behavior.
