Determination of the ratio of $b$-quark fragmentation fractions $f_s/f_d$ in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV with the ATLAS detector
ATLAS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper measures the ratio of $b$-quark fragmentation fractions $f_s/f_d$ in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV using ATLAS data, providing a more precise value through a novel method.
Contribution
It introduces a new approach to determine $f_s/f_d$, significantly improving the accuracy of the world average measurement.
Findings
Measured $f_s/f_d$ as 0.240 with combined uncertainties.
Used exclusive decays $B_s^0 o J/\,\phi$ and $B_d^0 o J/ K^{*0}$.
Achieved a more precise determination of fragmentation fractions.
Abstract
With an integrated luminosity of 2.47 fb recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, the exclusive decays and of mesons produced in collisions at TeV are used to determine the ratio of fragmentation fractions . From the observed and yields, the quantity is measured to be 0.199 0.004(stat) 0.008(sys). Using a recent theory prediction for yields 0.240 0.004(stat) 0.010(sys) 0.017(th). This result is based on a new approach that provides a…
