TL;DR
This paper investigates how the masses and widths of light scalar and vector mesons in QCD depend on the theta-vacuum parameter using chiral perturbation theory and a modified inverse amplitude method.
Contribution
It provides a detailed analysis of the theta-dependence of meson properties up to next-to-leading order in chiral perturbation theory, including a novel application of the modified inverse amplitude method.
Findings
Theta-dependence of pion mass derived
Theta-dependence of sigma(500) and rho(770) mesons analyzed
Results show significant variation of meson properties with theta
Abstract
We derive the pion mass and the elastic pion-pion scattering amplitude in the QCD theta-vacuum up to next-to-leading order in chiral perturbation theory. Using the modified inverse amplitude method, we study the theta-dependence of the mass and width of the light scalar meson sigma(500) and the vector meson rho(770).
