Study of the $B_c^+ \to J/\psi D_s^+$ and $B_c^+ \to J/\psi D_s^{*+}$ decays with the ATLAS detector
ATLAS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper measures the decay rates and polarization of specific $B_c^+$ meson decays into $J/$ and $D_s^{(*)+}$ states using ATLAS data, providing results consistent with theoretical expectations.
Contribution
First measurement of branching fractions and polarization in $B_c^+ o J/ D_s^{(*)+}$ decays with detailed analysis using ATLAS data.
Findings
Measured transverse polarization fraction: 0.38 .23 .07.
Determined ratio of branching fractions: 2.8 .8 (stat) .3 (sys).
Derived ratios of branching fractions relative to $J/ \u2192 \u03bc^+$.
Abstract
The decays and are studied with the ATLAS detector at the LHC using a dataset corresponding to integrated luminosities of 4.9 fb and 20.6 fb of collisions collected at centre-of-mass energies TeV and 8 TeV, respectively. Signal candidates are identified through and decays. With a two-dimensional likelihood fit involving the reconstructed invariant mass and an angle between the and candidate momenta in the muon pair rest frame, the yields of and , and the transverse polarisation fraction in decay are measured. The transverse polarisation fraction is determined to be $\Gamma_{\pm\pm}(B_c^+ \to J/\psi D_s^{*+})/\Gamma(B_c^+ \to J/\psi…
