Inclusive, prompt and non-prompt J/$\psi$ production at mid-rapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 2.76 TeV
ALICE Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper measures inclusive, prompt, and non-prompt J/ψ production in Pb-Pb collisions at 2.76 TeV, revealing insights into charm quark coalescence and nuclear modification effects at mid-rapidity.
Contribution
It provides new measurements of J/ψ nuclear modification factors and non-prompt fractions, highlighting the role of charm coalescence and challenging existing models.
Findings
$ angle p_{ m T}$ is smaller in Pb-Pb than in pp collisions.
$R_{ m AA}$ increases at low $p_{ m T}$, suggesting charm coalescence.
Nuclear modification of non-prompt J/ψ exceeds model predictions.
Abstract
The transverse momentum () dependence of the nuclear modification factor and the centrality dependence of the average transverse momentum for inclusive J/ have been measured with ALICE for Pb-Pb collisions at = 2.76 TeV in the ee decay channel at mid-rapidity (). The is significantly smaller than the one observed for pp collisions at the same centre-of-mass energy. Consistently, an increase of is observed towards low . These observations might be indicative of a sizable contribution of charm quark coalescence to the J/ production. Additionally, the fraction of non-prompt J/ from beauty hadron decays, , has been determined in the region GeV/c in three centrality intervals. No significant centrality…
