TL;DR
This paper reports the first observation of the decay _s^0 (2S) K^+ ^- with measurements of branching fractions, decay dynamics, polarization, and mass splitting using LHCb data at 7 and 8 TeV.
Contribution
The study provides the first measurement of the _s^0 (2S) K^+ ^- decay and detailed analysis of its decay properties and mass difference.
Findings
Measured the relative branching fraction of _s^0 (2S) K^+ ^- decay to B^0 decay.
Determined the fraction of decays via K^*(892)^0 and its polarization fraction.
Measured the mass difference between _s^0 and B^0 mesons.
Abstract
The decay is observed using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of collected by the LHCb experiment in collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The branching fraction relative to the decay mode is measured to be \begin{equation} \frac{{\cal B}(\overline{B}^0_s \rightarrow \psi(2S) K^+ \pi^-)}{{\cal B}(B^0 \rightarrow \psi(2S) K^+ \pi^-)} = 5.38 \pm 0.36 (stat) \pm 0.22 (syst) \pm 0.31 \, (f_s/f_d) \, \%,\nonumber \end{equation} where indicates the uncertainty due to the ratio of probabilities for a quark to hadronise into a or meson. Using an amplitude analysis, the fraction of decays proceeding via an intermediate meson is measured to be and its longitudinal polarisation…
