Adriana M. Gonz\'alez, Juan C. Reginato, Domingo A. Tarzia

TL;DR
This paper develops a sixth-degree polynomial approximation for a free boundary problem modeling oxygen diffusion in a sphere with absorption, correcting errors in earlier solutions.
Contribution
It introduces a new polynomial approximation method for the problem and identifies errors in previous solutions.
Findings
The sixth-degree polynomial provides an accurate approximation.
Previous solutions contained notable mistakes.
The method improves understanding of oxygen diffusion in spherical media.
Abstract
The goal of this article is to find a correct approximated solution using a polynomial of sixth degree for the free boundary problem corresponding to the diffusion of oxygen in a spherical medium with simultaneous absorption at a constant rate, and to show some mistakes in previously published solutions.
