TL;DR
This paper reports new activation cross section data for deuteron-induced reactions on ytterbium up to 50 MeV, comparing experimental results with theoretical models to improve nuclear reaction understanding.
Contribution
It extends existing cross section data for ytterbium reactions up to 50 MeV and evaluates the accuracy of theoretical nuclear reaction codes.
Findings
New experimental cross section data up to 50 MeV
Good agreement with previous data in overlapping regions
Comparison with theoretical models shows varying accuracy
Abstract
Activation cross sections of deuteron induced reactions on ytterbium for production of Lu, Yb and Tm were extended up to 50 MeV deuteron energy. The new data are in acceptable agreement with the earlier experimental data in the overlapping energy region. The experimental data are compared with the predictions of the ALICE-D, EMPIRE-D and TALYS 1.4 (TENDL-2013 on-line library results) codes.
