Xue-Jian Jiang, Zhong Wang, Qiusheng Gu, Junzhi Wang, Zhi-Yu Zhang

TL;DR
This study presents CO J=2-1 observations of 32 nearby star-forming galaxies, revealing correlations between gas fractions, galaxy properties, and introducing WISE W3-W2 color as a tracer for molecular gas content.
Contribution
It introduces WISE W3-W2 color as a new indicator for H$_2$ gas fraction and establishes a tight correlation between 12μm luminosity and molecular gas mass in galaxies.
Findings
HI fraction decreases with stellar mass, H$_2$ remains stable.
W3-W2 color correlates tightly with H$_2$ fraction.
12μm luminosity predicts molecular gas mass accurately.
Abstract
We present CO =2-1 observations towards 32 nearby gas-rich star-forming galaxies selected from the ALFALFA and WISE catalogs, using the Sub-millimeter Telescope. Our sample is selected to be dominated by intermediate- galaxies. The scaling-relations between molecular gas, atomic gas and galactic properties (stellar mass, NUV and WISE color W3W2) are examined and discussed. Our results show that (1). In the galaxies with stellar mass , HI fraction ( /) is significantly higher than that of more massive galaxies, while H gas fraction ( /) remain nearly unchanged. (2). Comparing with , correlates better with both and NUV. (3). A new parameter, WISE color W3W2 (12\,m4.6\,m) is…
