TL;DR
This paper presents empirical formulas to calculate the average number of prompt neutrons emitted during photo-fission of various actinides, aiding predictions where experimental data are limited.
Contribution
It introduces empirical calculations for prompt neutron numbers in actinide photo-fission based on photon energy, mass, and charge, useful for unmeasured nuclides.
Findings
Empirical formulas match known data for several actinides.
Calculations enable estimates for scarce or unavailable data.
Method supports nuclear data evaluation and modeling.
Abstract
The empirical calculations of the prompt neutrons average number for photofission of the 232Th, 233U, 234U, 235U, 236U, 238U, 237Np, 239Pu and 241Am actinides has been done as a function of photon energy, mass and charge of the nuclei, which can be used to evaluate the average number for photo-fission of nuclides for which no or scarce data are available.
