Casimir energies in spherically symmetric background potentials revisited
Matthew Beauregard, Michael Bordag, Klaus Kirsten

TL;DR
This paper revisits the calculation of Casimir energies in spherically symmetric potentials, simplifying the methodology and revealing surprisingly straightforward results compared to previous approaches.
Contribution
It introduces a more accessible formulation for computing Casimir energies in spherical backgrounds, making the process technically easier and the results clearer.
Findings
Simplified the calculation method for Casimir energies in spherical potentials
Achieved surprisingly simple final expressions for the energies
Enhanced understanding of the technical aspects involved
Abstract
In this paper we reconsider the formulation for the computation of the Casimir energy in spherically symmetric background potentials. Compared to the previous analysis, the technicalities are much easier to handle and final answers are surprisingly simple.
