TL;DR
This paper develops a covariant axial gauge for abelian lattice gauge theories, emphasizing its symmetry properties and compatibility with renormalization group transformations.
Contribution
It introduces a covariant axial gauge that maintains lattice symmetry and works well with block averaging renormalization group methods.
Findings
The gauge preserves lattice symmetries.
It is compatible with renormalization group transformations.
Provides a framework for analyzing abelian gauge theories on lattices.
Abstract
We consider abelian gauge theories on a lattice and develop properties of an axial gauge that is covariant under lattice symmetries. Particular attention is paid to a version that behaves nicely under block averaging renormalization group transformations.
