Rational functions with nodes
Masayo Fujimura, Masahiko Taniguchi

TL;DR
The paper introduces a geometric framework for understanding the boundary points of moduli spaces of rational functions using rational functions with nodes on punctured Riemann spheres.
Contribution
It provides a natural compactification of virtual moduli spaces and introduces rational functions with nodes as a new geometric concept.
Findings
Defines rational functions with nodes on punctured Riemann spheres.
Provides a geometric description of boundary points in moduli spaces.
Establishes a compactification of virtual moduli spaces.
Abstract
A natural kind of compactification of the virtual moduli spaces of rational functions of one complex variable is given. To describe the boundary points geometrically, the authors introduce the concept of rational functions with nodes, defined on partially crushed punctured Riemann spheres with nodes.
