The structure of rotational bands in alpha-cluster nuclei
Roelof Bijker

TL;DR
This paper presents an algebraic approach to understanding the rotational band structures in alpha-cluster nuclei, emphasizing geometric symmetries and their effects on nuclear spectra.
Contribution
It introduces a spectrum generating algebra framework that incorporates discrete symmetries to analyze rotational bands in alpha-cluster nuclei like 12C and 16O.
Findings
Algebraic model captures rotational band structures effectively.
Discrete symmetries influence energy levels and transition patterns.
Provides insights into geometric arrangements of alpha particles.
Abstract
In this contribution, I discuss an algebraic treatment of alpha-cluster nuclei based on the introduction of a spectrum generating algebra for the relative motion of the alpha-clusters. Particular attention is paid to the discrete symmetry of the geometric arrangement of the alpha-particles, and the consequences for the structure of the rotational bands in the 12C and 16O nuclei.
