Benjamin Svetitsky, Ohad Raviv, Yigal Shamir (Tel Aviv University)

TL;DR
This study uses the Schrödinger functional method to analyze the beta function of three-dimensional QED with two fermion flavors, finding no fixed point and indicating the theory is confining rather than conformal.
Contribution
First calculation of the beta function in 3D QED with Nf=2 using the Schrödinger functional approach, revealing confinement without a fixed point.
Findings
No fixed point in the beta function
The theory exhibits confinement rather than conformality
Schrödinger functional method effectively applied to 3D QED
Abstract
We have carried out a Schrodinger-functional calculation for the Abelian gauge theory with Nf=2 four-component fermions in three dimensions. We find no fixed point in the beta function, meaning that the theory is confining rather than conformal.
