The mass discrepancy problem in O stars of solar metallicity. Does it still exist?
N. Markova, J. Puls

TL;DR
This study examines the ongoing issue of mass discrepancies in O stars at solar metallicity by comparing spectroscopic and evolutionary masses using a large dataset, aiming to identify influencing factors.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive analysis of mass estimates in O stars, incorporating new and literature data to assess the persistence of the mass discrepancy problem.
Findings
Mass discrepancy persists in O stars at solar metallicity.
Factors influencing mass estimates are identified and analyzed.
The study refines understanding of spectroscopic and evolutionary mass relations.
Abstract
Using own and literature data for a large sample of O stars in the Milky Way, we investigate the correspondence between their spectroscopic and evolutionary masses, and try to put constraints on various parameters that might influence the estimates of these two quantities.
