Quantum optics: Push-button photon entanglement
Chao-Yang Lu, Jian-Wei Pan

TL;DR
This paper reports the development of a semiconductor chip that can reliably produce entangled photon pairs on demand, advancing optical quantum information experiments.
Contribution
It introduces a solid-state, on-demand entangled photon source integrated on a chip, a significant step forward in quantum optics technology.
Findings
Achieved on-demand entangled photon pair emission in a semiconductor chip.
Demonstrated potential for use in optical quantum information applications.
Provides a scalable and reliable photon source for quantum experiments.
Abstract
A source of entangled photons that emits one, and only one, pair of photons on demand has now been realized in a semiconductor chip. The solid-state source will be a useful resource for experiments in optical quantum information.
