$B^0_{(s)} \rightarrow \mu^+\mu^-$ at CMS
Franco Ligabue

TL;DR
This paper reports on the CMS experiment's search for rare B meson decays into muon pairs, measuring their branching fractions and setting upper limits, consistent with Standard Model predictions, using data from 2011 and 2012.
Contribution
First measurement of B0_s to mu+mu- decay branching fraction at CMS, with combined results and future prospects discussed.
Findings
Measured B0_s to mu+mu- branching fraction: (3.0 +1.0 -0.9) x 10^-9
Set upper limit on B0 to mu+mu- decay: < 1.1 x 10^-9 at 95% CL
Combined results with LHCb improve sensitivity for rare decay searches
Abstract
The search for the rare \BMuMu and \BsMuMu decays in pp collisions at ~GeV and ~GeV, collected at the LHC in 2011 and 2012, is briefly reviewed. The data analyzed by CMS correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 5 and 20 , respectively. The time-integrated average branching fraction has been measured to be in accordance with the Standard Model predictions, while an upper limit has been placed on the other investigated decay at 95% CL. A preliminary combination with the results from LHCb is also presented for both channels, and prospects for the future are briefly discussed.
