Universal Source Polarization and an Application to a Multi-User Problem
Min Ye, Alexander Barg

TL;DR
This paper introduces a universal source coding scheme that achieves optimal compression rates for sources with side information and applies it to a multi-user broadcast channel problem.
Contribution
It presents a universal compression scheme for sources with side information and demonstrates its application to multi-user joint source-channel coding.
Findings
Achieves the smallest possible compression rate universally.
Effectively applies to multi-user broadcast channel scenarios.
Provides a new approach to joint source-channel coding.
Abstract
We propose a scheme that universally achieves the smallest possible compression rate for a class of sources with side information, and develop an application of this result for a joint source channel coding problem over a broadcast channel.
