TL;DR
This paper reports a precise measurement of the W boson production cross-section in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV, using muon decay channels and LHCb data, providing results consistent with advanced QCD predictions.
Contribution
The paper presents the first detailed measurement of W boson cross-sections and their ratios in the forward region at 7 TeV, with high precision and comparison to NNLO theoretical models.
Findings
Measured W+ and W- cross-sections with uncertainties
Determined W+/W- cross-section ratio as 1.274
Results agree with NNLO QCD predictions
Abstract
A measurement of the inclusive production cross-section using data from collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of is presented. The analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of about recorded with the LHCb detector. Results are reported for muons with a transverse momentum greater than and pseudorapidity between 2.0 and 4.5. The and production cross-sections are measured to be where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the luminosity determination. Cross-section ratios and differential distributions as functions of the muon pseudorapidity are…
