A semi perturbative method for QED
Renata Jora, Joseph Schechter

TL;DR
This paper introduces a semi-perturbative functional integration method to compute the QED beta function, resulting in a new renormalization scheme that captures only the first two orders of the beta function.
Contribution
The authors develop a novel semi-perturbative approach using functional integration to derive a simplified QED beta function with only first two order coefficients.
Findings
Beta function contains only first two order coefficients
New renormalization scheme proposed
Method simplifies QED calculations
Abstract
We compute the QED beta function using a new method of functional integration. It turns out that in this procedure the beta function contains only the first two orders coefficients and thus corresponds to a new renormalization scheme, long time supposed to exist.
