Measurement of the production cross-section of $\psi(2S)\to J/\psi(\to\mu^+\mu^-)\pi^+\pi^-$ in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV at ATLAS
ATLAS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports measurements of prompt and non-prompt $ ext{psi}(2S)$ production cross-sections in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV using ATLAS data, comparing results with theoretical models and previous measurements.
Contribution
First measurement of $ ext{psi}(2S)$ production cross-sections at 7 TeV in the specified kinematic range using the decay mode $ ext{psi}(2S) o J/ ext{psi}( o ext{mu}^+ ext{mu}^-) ext{pi}^+ ext{pi}^-$ at ATLAS.
Findings
Measured cross-sections for prompt and non-prompt $ ext{psi}(2S)$ production.
Results are consistent with some theoretical models and previous measurements.
Provides data for understanding quarkonium production mechanisms.
Abstract
The prompt and non-prompt production cross-sections for mesons are measured using 2.1 fb of collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The measurement exploits the decay mode, and probes mesons with transverse momenta in the range GeV and rapidity . The results are compared to other measurements of production at the LHC and to various theoretical models for prompt and non-prompt quarkonium production.
