Improved Estimation of the Spectral Efficiency Versus Energy-Per-Bit Tradeoff in the Wideband Regime
Richard J. Barton

TL;DR
This paper introduces a new lower bound on spectral efficiency in the low-power wideband regime, providing a more accurate estimate of spectral efficiency near the Shannon limit.
Contribution
It derives a novel lower bound on spectral efficiency in the wideband regime and uses it to improve estimates close to the Shannon limit.
Findings
New lower bound on spectral efficiency in wideband regime
Enhanced estimates of spectral efficiency near Shannon limit
Better understanding of spectral efficiency versus energy-per-bit tradeoff
Abstract
In this paper, a new lower bound on spectral efficiency in the low-power wideband regime is derived and utilized to develop an improved estimate of the behavior of spectral efficiency above but in the vicinity of the Shannon limit.
