6D gauge-Higgs unification on T^2/Z_N with custodial symmetry
Yoshio Matsumoto, Yutaka Sakamura

TL;DR
This paper explores 6D gauge-Higgs unification models on T^2/Z_N with custodial symmetry, identifying promising gauge groups and matter representations, notably a 6D SU(3)_C x U(4) model with third-generation quarks in a symmetric tensor representation.
Contribution
It provides a group-theoretical analysis to select gauge groups, orbifolds, and matter representations compatible with custodial symmetry, proposing a specific viable model.
Findings
Identified 6D SU(3)_C x U(4) on T^2/Z_3 as a promising candidate.
Embedded third-generation quarks into bulk fermions in the symmetric traceless tensor of SO(6).
Performed group theoretical analysis to ensure custodial symmetry compatibility.
Abstract
We investigate the gauge-Higgs unification models compactified on T^2/Z_N that have the custodial symmetry. We select possible gauge groups, orbifolds and representations of the matter fermions that are consistent with the custodial symmetry, by means of the group theoretical analysis. The best candidate we found is 6D SU(3)_C x U(4) gauge theory on T^2/Z_3 and the third generation quarks are embedded into bulk fermions that are the symmetric traceless rank-2 tensor of SO(6).
