Comprehensive measurements of $t$-channel single top-quark production cross sections at $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV with the ATLAS detector
ATLAS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports precise measurements of $t$-channel single top-quark production cross sections at 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector, confirming consistency with Standard Model predictions and extracting the CKM matrix element $|V_{tb}|$.
Contribution
First comprehensive measurement of $t$-channel single top-quark cross sections and their ratios at 7 TeV using neural network techniques with ATLAS data.
Findings
Measured cross sections: $\sigma(tq)= 46 ext{ pb}$, $\sigma(ar{t}q)= 23 ext{ pb}$
Ratio of cross sections: $R_{t}=2.04 ext{, with uncertainty}$
Determined $|V_{tb}|=1.02 ext{ with uncertainty}$
Abstract
This article presents measurements of the -channel single top-quark () and top-antiquark () total production cross sections and , their ratio , and a measurement of the inclusive production cross section in proton--proton collisions at TeV at the LHC. Differential cross sections for the and processes are measured as a function of the transverse momentum and the absolute value of the rapidity of and , respectively. The analyzed data set was recorded with the ATLAS detector and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.59 fb. Selected events contain one charged lepton, large missing transverse momentum, and two or three jets. The cross sections are measured by performing a binned maximum-likelihood fit to the output distributions of…
