TL;DR
This paper reports precise measurements of effective lifetimes in specific B meson decays using LHCb data, providing constraints on potential new physics beyond the Standard Model.
Contribution
First precise measurement of the effective lifetime in B_s^0 → K^+K^- decay, improving constraints on B_s^0 mixing and width difference.
Findings
Most precise lifetime measurement for B_s^0 → K^+K^-
Results constrain new physics contributions
Data-driven decay time acceptance correction
Abstract
Measurements of the effective lifetimes in the , and decays are presented using of collision data collected at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV by the LHCb experiment. The analysis uses a data-driven approach to correct for the decay time acceptance. The measured effective lifetimes are = , = , = . This is the most precise determination to date of the effective lifetime in the decay and provides constraints on contributions from physics beyond the Standard Model to the…
