R. Shyam, H. Lenske

TL;DR
This paper models the production of charmed baryons in antiproton-proton collisions using an effective Lagrangian approach, predicting cross sections and analyzing meson exchange contributions.
Contribution
It introduces a detailed effective Lagrangian model for ${ar p} p o {ar extstyle\Lambda}_c^- extstyle\Lambda_c^+$ including meson exchanges and coupling constants from SU(4) symmetry, with predictions for cross sections.
Findings
Predicted cross sections range from 1 to 30 microbarns.
D^0 and D^{*0} meson exchanges significantly influence production.
The model's vertex parameters are validated against ${ar p} p o {ar extstyle\Lambda} extstyle\Lambda$ data.
Abstract
We study the charmed baryon production reaction using the -channel and meson exchange diagrams within an effective Lagrangian model involving the physical hadron masses and the coupling constants determined from SU(4) flavor symmetry. The initial and final state distortion effects are accounted for by using a simple eikonal approximation based procedure. The vertex parameters of our model have been checked by employing them to calculate the cross sections for the reaction within a similar model. We predict the production cross sections in the range of 1-30 for antiproton beam momenta varying between threshold to 20 GeV/c. The respective roles of and meson exchanges and also those of the vector and tensor components of the…
