TL;DR
This paper develops new calibrations for absolute magnitudes of dwarf stars using colour-magnitude diagrams from Galactic clusters, covering a wide range of metallicities and ages, with high accuracy residuals.
Contribution
It introduces two novel absolute magnitude calibrations for dwarfs based on cluster data, extending previous methods to broader metallicity and age ranges with improved residuals.
Findings
Calibrations cover metallicity range -2.15 to +0.37 dex.
Residuals for $M_g$ calibration are within -0.15 to +0.12 mag.
Residuals for $M_J$ calibration are within -0.29 to +0.35 mag.
Abstract
We present two absolute magnitude calibrations for dwarfs based on colour-magnitude diagrams of Galactic clusters. The combination of the absolute magnitudes of the dwarf fiducial sequences of the clusters M92, M13, M5, NGC 2420, M67 and NGC 6791 with the corresponding metallicities provides absolute magnitude calibration for a given colour. The calibration is defined in the colour interval mag and it covers the metallicity interval dex. The absolute magnitude residuals obtained by the application of the procedure to another set of Galactic clusters lie in the interval mag. The mean and standard deviation of the residuals are and mag, respectively. The calibration of the absolute magnitude in terms of metallicity is carried…
