Some remarks on modified diagonals
Ben Moonen, Qizheng Yin

TL;DR
This paper establishes fundamental vanishing results for modified diagonal classes, providing new insights into their behavior on curves and abelian varieties, and confirms O'Grady's conjecture for double covers.
Contribution
It introduces new vanishing theorems for modified diagonals and proves O'Grady's conjecture in specific geometric contexts.
Findings
Vanishing results for modified diagonal classes
Sharp results for diagonals on curves and abelian varieties
Proof of O'Grady's conjecture for double covers
Abstract
We prove a number of basic vanishing results for modified diagonal classes. We also obtain some sharp results for modified diagonals of curves and abelian varieties, and we prove a conjecture of O'Grady about modified diagonals on double covers.
