Converting Neutron Stars into Strange Stars: Instanton Model
Victor Ts. Gurovich, Leonid G. Fel

TL;DR
This paper estimates the probability of nuclear matter transforming into strange matter within neutron stars using an instanton approach from quantum field theory, providing insights into stellar phase transitions.
Contribution
It introduces a novel application of the instanton method to model the transition of neutron star matter into strange matter.
Findings
Calculated transition probability using instanton method.
Provides a quantitative framework for neutron star to strange star conversion.
Enhances understanding of stellar phase transition mechanisms.
Abstract
We estimate the quasiclassical probability of the homogeneous nuclear matter transition to a strange matter when a detonation wave propagates radially inside a sphere of nuclear matter. For this purpose we make use of instanton method which is known in the quantum field theory.
