New charge exchange model of GEANT4 for $^{9}$Be(p,n)$^{9}$B reaction
Jae Won Shin, Tae-Sun Park

TL;DR
This paper introduces a new charge exchange model for GEANT4 tailored to the $^{9}$Be(p,n)$^{9}$B reaction, accurately reproducing experimental neutron spectra and peak structures for proton energies between 20 and 35 MeV.
Contribution
A data-driven charge exchange model for GEANT4 that improves neutron spectrum predictions for $^{9}$Be(p,n)$^{9}$B reactions compared to existing models.
Findings
Model accurately reproduces experimental neutron yield spectra.
Peak structures from discrete neutrons are well captured.
Outperforms all considered GEANT4 hadronic models.
Abstract
A new data-based charge exchange model of GEANT4 dedicated to the Be(p,n)B reaction is developed by taking the ENDF/B-VII.1 differential cross-section data as input. Our model yields results that are in good agreement with the experimental neutron yield spectrum data obtained for proton beams of energy MeV. In particular, in contrast to all the considered GEANT4 hadronic models, the peak structure resulting from the discrete neutrons generated by the charge-exchange reaction is observed to be accurately reproduced in our model.
