Tetsuji Kimura, Shin Sasaki, Masaya Yata

TL;DR
This paper constructs covariant world-volume effective actions for exotic five-branes in type IIA and IIB string theories, revealing their supersymmetric multiplet structures and duality relations.
Contribution
It provides the first fully space-time covariant effective actions for $5^2_2$-branes and extends the analysis to the $5^2_3$-brane via S-duality, including discussions on other string theories.
Findings
Effective actions are governed by specific supersymmetric multiplets.
S-duality relates the $5^2_2$-brane to the $5^2_3$-brane.
Additional insights into exotic branes in various string theories.
Abstract
We construct world-volume effective actions of exotic -branes in type IIA and IIB string theories. The effective actions are given in fully space-time covariant forms with two Killing vectors associated with background isometries. The effective theories are governed by the six-dimensional tensor multiplet and vector multiplet, respectively. Performing the S-duality transformation to the -brane effective action in type IIB string theory, we also work out the world-volume action of the -brane. We discuss some additional issues relevant to the exotic five-branes in type I and heterotic string theories.
