H. G. Fischer, M. Makariev, D. Varga, S. Wenig

TL;DR
This paper critically compares new NA61 data on negative pion production in p+p interactions across various energies with previous results, highlighting discrepancies in yields and distributions.
Contribution
It provides a detailed comparison revealing inconsistencies between NA61 measurements and earlier data in pion production at multiple energies.
Findings
NA61 data show discrepancies with previous results
Differences observed in total yields and rapidity distributions
Inconsistencies in double differential cross sections
Abstract
New data from the NA61 collaboration on the production of negative pions in p+p interactions at beam momenta between 20 and 158 GeV/c are critically compared to available results in the same energy range. It is concluded that the NA61 data show some discrepancies with the previous results. This concerns in particular the total yields, the integrated rapidity distributions and the double differential cross sections.
