Studies of charmed baryons at LHCb
S. Ogilvy

TL;DR
This study searches for the doubly charmed baryon $\\Xi_{cc}^{+}$ in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV but finds no significant signal, setting upper limits on its production rate relative to $\\Lambda_{c}^{+}$.
Contribution
First search for the doubly charmed baryon $\\Xi_{cc}^{+}$ at LHCb with new upper limits on its production cross section ratio.
Findings
No significant signal observed in the mass range 3300-3800 MeV/c^2.
Upper limits on production ratio R are set at 1.5×10^{-2} for 100 fs lifetime.
Upper limits on R are 3.9×10^{-4} for 400 fs lifetime.
Abstract
We report a search for the doubly charmed baryon through the decay , using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of of collisions at . In the mass range 3300-3800 no significant signal is observed. Upper limits at confidence level are set on , the ratio of the production cross section of the times the relevant branching fraction over the cross section, as a function of the mass and lifetime. The largest upper limits on over the investigated mass range are for a lifetime of and for a lifetime of .
