Michael Albrow, Artur Swiech, Maria Zurek

TL;DR
This paper reports measurements of exclusive pi+pi- production in proton-antiproton collisions at two energies, analyzing the mass spectrum, resonances, and angular distributions to understand the underlying production mechanisms.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed measurements of exclusive pi+pi- production at these energies, including resonance identification and dependence on collision energy and transverse momentum.
Findings
Observation of f0(980) and f2(1270) resonances
Dependence of production on collision energy and pT
Angular distribution analysis
Abstract
Using the Collider Detector at Fermilab, CDF, we have measured exclusive pi+pi- production at sqrt(s) = 900 GeV and 1960 GeV. The pi+pi- pair is central, |y| < 1.0, and there are no other particles detected in |eta| < 5.9. We discuss the mass spectrum, showing f0(980) and f2(1270) resonances, s-dependence, pT-dependence, and angular distributions.
