Valence quark and meson cloud contributions to the $\gamma^\ast N \to N^\ast(1520)$ form factors
G. Ramalho, M.T. Pe\~na

TL;DR
This paper uses a covariant spectator quark model to analyze the electromagnetic form factors of the $ o N^ ext{*}(1520)$ transition, separating valence quark and meson cloud effects, and provides a parametrization useful for future research.
Contribution
It introduces a method to estimate valence quark contributions and parameterize meson cloud effects in the $ o N^ ext{*}(1520)$ transition form factors.
Findings
Valence quark contributions are estimated at high $Q^2$.
Meson cloud effects dominate at low $Q^2$.
A parametrization for low $Q^2$ behavior is provided.
Abstract
The covariant spectator quark model is applied to the reaction. The valence quark contributions to the electromagnetic form factors and helicity transition amplitudes are estimated from the covariant structure of the wave function calibrated by the experimental data for large squared momentum transfer . The difference between the model results and the experimental data is then used to parameterize the low behavior, where meson cloud effects are assumed to dominate. This parametrization can be very useful for future studies of the reaction, as well as for the extension of the transition form factors to the timelike region.
