Unitary vertex operator algebras
Chongying Dong, Xingjun Lin

TL;DR
This paper introduces the concept of unitary vertex operator algebras, proves many known rational VOAs are unitary, and discusses their classification for central charge c ≤ 1.
Contribution
It provides a foundational study of unitarity in vertex operator algebras and classifies those with small central charge.
Findings
Most well-known rational VOAs are unitary.
Classification of unitary VOAs with c ≤ 1.
Establishment of unitarity as a key property in VOA theory.
Abstract
Unitary vertex operator algebras are introduced and studied. It is proved that most well-known rational vertex operator algebras are unitary. The classification of unitary vertex operator algebras with central charge c less than or equal to 1 is also discussed.
