Dark matter with $t$-channel mediator: a simple step beyond contact interaction
Haipeng An, Lian-Tao Wang, and Hao Zhang

TL;DR
This paper explores how a $t$-channel mediator affects dark matter collider searches, revealing new contributions and constraints, especially for Dirac and Majorana fermion dark matter, and emphasizing the importance of considering simple mediator models.
Contribution
It introduces the impact of a $t$-channel mediator on collider search strategies and constraints, extending beyond contact interaction approximations.
Findings
Monojet$+ ot{E}_T$ searches can be more sensitive in large parameter regions.
Mediator pair production significantly contributes to monojet$+ ot{E}_T$ signals.
For Dirac fermion dark matter, combined collider and detection constraints exclude viable parameter space.
Abstract
Effective contact operators provide the simplest parameterization of dark matter searches at colliders. However, light mediator can significantly change the sensitivity and search strategies. Considering simple models of mediators is an important next-step for collider searches. In this paper, we consider the case of a -channel mediator. Its presence opens up new contributions to the monojet searches and can change the reach significantly. We also study the complementarity between searches for processes of monojet and direct pair production of the mediators. Mediator pair production also gives important contribution to a CMS-like monojet search where a second hard jet is allowed. There is a large region of parameter space in which the monojet search provides the stronger limit.…
