Steenbrink vanishing extended
S\'andor J Kov\'acs

TL;DR
This paper introduces the DB index to measure singularity proximity to Du Bois conditions, enabling generalized Steenbrink vanishing theorems with simplified proofs.
Contribution
It defines the DB index and uses it to extend classical vanishing theorems for singularities with more natural proofs.
Findings
Generalization of Steenbrink vanishing theorems
Introduction of the DB index as a measure of singularity
Simplified proofs of vanishing theorems
Abstract
The notion of DB index, a measure of how far a singularity of a pair is from being Du Bois, is introduced and used to generalize vanishing theorems of Steenbrink and others with simpler and more natural proofs than the originals.
