Semiclassical Strings on Curved Branes
Sagar Biswas, Kamal L Panigrahi

TL;DR
This paper explores semiclassical string solutions in curved brane backgrounds, revealing new insights into string dynamics in complex geometries with fluxes and their S-dual counterparts.
Contribution
It introduces specific semiclassical string solutions in the near horizon geometry of curved NS5-branes with background fluxes, highlighting differences under S-duality.
Findings
Identified giant magnon, single spike, and folded string solutions.
Analyzed effects of background NS-NS flux on string configurations.
Compared string dynamics before and after S-duality transformation.
Abstract
We study semiclassical strings in the near horizon geometry of certain curved branes. We investigate the rigidly rotating strings in the near horizon geometry of NS5-branes wrapped on AdS3 x S3 and in the presence of background NS-NS flux. We study several string solutions corresponding to giant magnon, single spike and more general folded strings for the fundamental string in this background. We comment that in the S-dual background the situation changes drastically.
