Orbifold Family Unification on 6 Dimensions
Yuhei Goto, Yoshiharu Kawamura, Takashi Miura

TL;DR
This paper explores how orbifold compactification in six dimensions can lead to models with three families of matter particles, unifying families within a higher-dimensional SU(N) gauge theory.
Contribution
It demonstrates the generation of three-family models from a single higher-dimensional fermion via orbifold symmetry breaking.
Findings
Numerous models with three SU(5) families are constructed.
Models with three standard model families are obtained.
Orbifold breaking effectively reduces higher-dimensional theories to realistic family structures.
Abstract
We study the possibility of family unification on the basis of SU(N) gauge theory on the 6-dimensional space-time, . We obtain enormous numbers of models with three families of SU(5) matter multiplets and those with three families of the standard model multiplets, from a single massless Dirac fermion with a higher-dimensional representation of SU(N), through the orbifold breaking mechanism.
